About the Blog

I am a graduate student in French. My love for literary classics and for the French language inspired me to start this blog. I value both adult and children’s literature. Therefore, in addition to reading adult classics, I am currently reading through the list of Newbery Award winning books.

Exploring Classics explores literary classics from around the world.

  1. Hi! I just discovered your blog. I was a French major a gazillion years ago, so it’s nice to find a kindred spirit. I’m very impressed that you are double-majoring in such different fields!
    Have you visited France yet?

    • Welcome and thank you for visiting! I have never traveled to France although I did visit Montreal for a few days two years ago. I would like to visit France someday but not in the context of a study abroad program.

Majoring in very different fields has been a really great experience. I think it is important for people to try to strengthen both sides of their brain. Majoring in the sciences and in the humanities helped me do that, but this is of course an ongoing process. I think that studying a subject as a hobby (not at a university for example) is equally worthwhile.

  2. Lovely blog! I am interested to see some of your upcoming reviews as I too, plan to read Balzac and Jules Verne in the original in the near future. 🙂 I’m currently working on Le Grand Meaulnes. Have you read it? Best wishes!
